About Us

Trains and More was founded as a result of our first son’s love of Thomas the Tank Engine. Before he could talk he wanted everything Thomas! As we became immersed in the Thomas the Tank Engine books, trains, tracks and videos the more we enjoyed watching him learn through Thomas! Thomas and friends is a comprehensive, open-ended play system which helps develop physical, social, and cognitive skills, as well as foster a sense of accomplishment.

As a stay-at-home mom and former teacher (certified regular education, special education, and reading specialist), I recognize the importance of Thomas' educational value. I watch with awe as my sons and their friends role–play scenes from videos, construct and problem solve a variety of track layouts, learn about magnets, and increase their manual dexterity. My sons spend a few hours each day with Thomas, and I have enjoyed watching the way Thomas has fostered a love of learning in our house.

As we continue to expand and grow and include more diverse product lines, we try to maintain our original goal of providing fun, yet educational toys. As a result, we hand-select each toy we sell and now are proud to offer you Melissa & Doug, Lamaze, and John Deere products along with the complete Thomas line of both the Wooden Railway and Take Along toys. This year we have added the full line of Bob the Builder toys and are currently reviewing other product lines for inclusion in 2006.
